When reading the Bible, it is good and helpful to learn and understand Biblical history. The Biblical context of time and peoples, customs and beliefs, demographics and geographics, all can give the student of the Bible a better understanding of Biblical teachings.

 

For example, when reading the Scriptural passage in John 6:53-58, where Jesus spoke about "eating His flesh" and "drinking His blood", without proper understanding of Christ's words, without instruction from the indwelling Holy Spirit, it would be rather simple for someone to just assume that Jesus was teaching and endorsing the practice of literal cannibalism among His followers.

 

So Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you."

 

(John 6:53)

 

 

I am positive that if one checked, there are no less than 20 different English versions of the Bible, all which translate this passage the same, that if one does not literally eat the flesh of Jesus or drink His blood, there is no "life" in them. However, when one reads the "whole picture" of Scripture, it becomes rather obvious that the true context of Christ's words has nothing to do with cannibalism.

 

Likewise, to use an illustration of a previous discussion on this forum, it is easy for those who are without the benefit of guidance from the indwelling Holy Spirit, to assume that the Biblical passage in Deuteronomy 24:1-4 contains instructions, as well as approval from God, for a man to divorce his wife.

 

However, when one reads that passage in conjunction with the rest of Scripture, the true context is not a blessing from the Lord for the termination of a marriage, but rather it is a commandment from God that established specific limitations and regulations for remarriage, in situations where a man had already given his wife a certificate of divorce.

 

With that said, today's young Rudometkinite zealots cannot simply pick up the Spirit and Life book and understand the totality of who Makcim Ghavrilovitch Rudometkin was, nor accurately comprehend what the man was writing about, without knowing the "context" and times in which he lived.

 

When studying the history of religious sectarianism in Russia, one finds a number of self-proclaimed "Elijahs" and "Enochs" who were running around all over Russia, announcing "special revelations" which were revealed ONLY to these "christs", most of whom ended up in prison, just like Rudometkin.

 

Of course, depending on the circumstances, the Rudometkinites will typically regurgitate any number of grandiose claims about their hero, even to the point of contradicting themselves with the over-embellished legends which they have concocted about Rudometkin.

 

For instance, according to the Rudometkinites, first Rudometkin supposedly sat in a hole in the ground for 9 years, without being able to stand up....

 

....apparently isolated in solitary confinement, where Rudometkin purportedly was not allowed contact with other prisoners, because he was a so-called "theological threat"....

 

....but then he, Rudometkin, while in solitary confinement, without contact with other prisoners, allegedly was able to somehow shame an opponent in theological debate, to the point that the other man supposedly committed suicide. That is a pretty amazing feat in anyone's book!

Rudometkin was not "unique". He certainly was not the first, nor was he the last, of these self-proclaimed "final messengers", "final conquerors", final whatever-you-want-to-call-them, deceived, self-appointed, religious lunatics. Rudometkin was one of many "dime-a-dozen" spiritual schizophrenics in Russia's monastery prison history.

 

For those who have studied the events of Russian religious history from the Great Schism (Raskol) through the end of the nineteenth century, it becomes very clear how and why the historical setting in Russia was the perfect stage for religious mystics, and religious fanatics (those terms are not mutually exclusive). A very good book to begin one's study of Russia, and the contributing factors which constituted the "context" of the times that Rudometkin lived in, is The Icon and the Axe by James H. Billington.

 

An excellent example of Russia's religious lunacy was one of Rudometkin's fellow prisoners at Solovetskiy Monastery Prison, a man by the name of S. As. Puhart, who was also known as "The Russian Jew". Puhart was yet another Russian end-of-time "Elijah", who was quite familiar with Rudometkin, even telling his followers that Rudometkin was "destroyed by Yehowah". According to the legend shared by Puhart, prior to Rudometkin's imprisonment, Rudometkin purportedly made a goat talk in the Caucasus, and resurrected a woman from the dead.

 

In 1883, after he was released from Solovetskiy, and six years after Rudometkin had died in Suzdal's Monastery Prison, Puhart published his own "final messenger" revelations, calling his writings The Universal Truth. Below are some "spiritual" excerpts that match him up perfectly to numerous other deluded religious fanatics from different areas of Old Russia, all of whom can be identified over the course of four or more centuries of time.

Just like the Rudometkinites believe certain passages from the Scriptures contain specific references to their hero, according to Puhart, he, Puhart, was the one who was prophesied about by the Prophet Isaiah in the Bible. Puhart explained that the term "North" is a direct reference to his own inquisitional prison cell on Solovetzky Island. Puhart claimed that his "quotations" from the Scriptures were taken from the Hebrew Bible, and not from the Christian one.

 

Where it is written in the Scriptures that he (meaning Puhart) will announce God's NAME to all nations in such a way that no one will hear him "preaching a sermon nor breaking a bruised reed in the streets", Puhart claimed that this is a direct reference to Puhart's God-ordained and God-inspired book entitled The Universal Truth, or a Light for the gentiles and Salvation for the Jews, a message which was to be spread to the whole World, by YEHOWAH.

 

This same "certainty" is expressed by the Rudometkinites, who, with the identical wishful thinking that Puhart demonstrated, make the following unsubstantiated claims about their own hero:

When reading Puhart's "final messenger" revelations in their entirety, it is not difficult to recognize the same "pattern" of writing that Rudometkin used in the Spirit and Life book, replete with claims of being the "only one" whom God commissioned to reveal His final truths to all the world!

 

Also, there is the unmistakable boast in Puhart's claim, just like the one Rudometkin made in the Spirit and Life book, about his revelations being so new and so "unique", that they had not been heard before, never, nowhere on the face of the earth, and that he, Puhart, was "chosen" by the Lord to be the one who would "reveal" God's "secret" to the world.

 

Rudometkin all over again....same pattern. It is no wonder why both of these men were sent by the authorities in Russia to share the same prison, where they no doubt had the opportunity to share and compare their great "revelations" with one another.

 

It is enough to gag on. You can only read so many of these self-aggrandized whackos before you have a bellyful of "me, my, mine, I am sooooooooo special, etc.!!"

 

It is a particularly distasteful blot on our Molokan history, to have had weak-willed and Biblical illiterates who allowed one of these religious "yahoos" to infiltrate our once, Bible-based Christian community, which happened to be dubbed in Russia with the moniker "Molokan", or "Milk-drinker".

 

Just like the responses from those who are followers of Rudometkin and his writings in the Spirit and Life book, I am sure that those who were / are followers of Puhart and his "spiritual writings" are able to give ample "explanations" in justification of this Russian "spiritual" man, and his many "revelations".

 

Again, Rudometkin was NOT unique, and the heresies that are found in the Spirit and Life book were typical of the time and place in Russian history. One of the most common sayings that has been shared by historians, in jest, about the inordinate amount of spiritual mystics during the 19th century in the Trancaucasus, in Russia, was that in Tambov, "tam Bogh".

 

In other words, self proclaimed and self coronated "kings", no different than Rudometkin, each one pronouncing himself to be a "christ" and "leader / ruler" in some way over his followers, in most instances the very physical incarnation of Holy Spirit Himself, were so plentiful and abundant that it was a common joke to say that if someone wanted to go and meet "God" in person, all they had to do was travel to Tambov and take their pick.

 

Rudometkin was only one of many such heretical choices, and in him, in Rudometkin, the New Israel Jumpers and Leapers have their great "god of the faithful", as well as their "new Jewish / Judean messiah", who claimed in the Spirit and Life book to coronate himself as the very "king" who will "reward" his Rudometkinite followers, by granting them salvation and eternal life.

Except for only me alone, your leader, by the revelation of My God, I came to know these (new words) clearly, in the spirit, in my nightly visions, as if looking at my own face in a mirror.

 

That is why I wish to personally reveal all of this to you, the New Israel, in these detailed lines, and show all of you the true new path of the King My God, and the eternal procession upon it.

These two heretics, Puhart and Rudometkin, who were prison mates at the Solovetski Monastery prison together, and quite possibly either cellmates, or at least residents of adjoining prison cells, knew each other personally, and from Puhart's testimony, were NOT friends. Yet their individual claims about being "chosen" by God to be "the one" who was to bring "special revelation" to the world, are virtually identical.

 

What is most interesting is that Puhart's description of Rudometkin, that Rudometkin inflicted some kind of physical violence upon him in some way, apparently right there behind the prison walls of the Solovetski Monastery, corresponds with what other historians wrote about Rudometkin, that he was a bully, with the personality of a thug.

 

 

From Puhart:

 

As soon as you make sure of this, GOD'S love, you will see that in order to achieve these universal things, peace and prosperity for 1000 years, without eliminating the Jews, JEHOWAH has decided to send this peacemaking News, or the Universal Truth to this World, via me. You will see clearly that these are HIS WORKS, not mine; since neither magus Cagliostro, nor Nostradamus, nor Swedenborg, nor Balaam, who saw God, nor immortal Abraham, could unravel this Great Mystery of the Universe. It is true! Amen. Isaiah 41:26; Isaiah 42:9

 

 

You will make sure that I am YEHOWAH'S Messenger, named Elijah, who is supposed to destroy all satanic religions and help the Jews become loving and faithful to Mangod YEHOWAH, like all their Holy forefathers were.

Rudometkin's own personal claims about being "chosen by God" are written with equal self aggrandizement, with the same absurd exaggeration, as can be seen in the following response to one of Rudometkin's superiors at Solovetski:

 

I then looked up to heaven and said, "Lord my God! You created me in Your image and called me Your servant, saying, 'You are My servant, and I am glorified in you'."

 

Then I answered him (Rudometin, answering his prison superior) saying, "Your highest reverence, how am I to blame if God Himself and His Son, Jesus Christ, chose me from among all the nations, and annointed me with their Holy Spirit as the third feature, their eternal Melchizedek, to be the chief and leader of the New Israel"!

Russia was a hotbed of such spiritual lunacy when Puhart and Rudometkin were alive, and it is unfortunate, and sad, that a good majority of today's "Molokan people" still willingly choose not to confront the issue of Rudometkin's heresy in our "Molokan churches", to the point that today's elders and church leaders would rather let today's "Molokan brotherhood" disintegrate over the issue of the Spirit and Life book, and the many heresies that it represents, than unite our people together in the knowledge of the grace of God, through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, according to all of the claims about Jesus that are recorded in the Bible.

I was not surprised to hear Harold Camping verbally grasp at last straws and say that "....spiritually speaking, He (Jesus) did come!" Isn't that just classic cult back-peddling? And, I guess I should not have been surprised when my friends, Bob and Cleo (relatively new followers of Harold Camping's teachings on end times) said to me in reply, "...if Jesus does not come on May 21st, that won't change anything!"

 

The one element that is missing in both the Harold Camping case as well as the MGR case is that followers of these two FALSE PROPHETS, will not call a spade a spade even when the false prophecy does not come to pass. Denial, by the respective followers of these two false prophets, because of their own human pride (which God hates), is a hallmark of self-destruction: not loving the truth to the point that God sends them a strong delusion to believe a lie.

 

Let's keep praying for God's truth to invade the Molokan churches and especially those who sit in leadership positions!

Rudometkin denies the Deity of Jesus Christ read page 442.4.....I am the faith of the Hebrews and the God of the Tartars.

 

The Tartars are Muslems who believe Jesus was a man and prophet! The Jews believe the same.

 

In his writings you will find evidence of his religious conversions, Russian Orthodoxy, Khlysti, Freemasonry, Uklein's false Christianity and his final conversion to Islam.

 

Let there be no misunderstanding nowhere in his book does Rudometkin confess Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.

 

There are numerous writings having Islamic context, such as murdering an unbeliever as a means of salvation, etc. which I can post if people want to know what they have gotten themselves into.
