seeking_truth_1 0 Report post Posted March 13, 2010 An interesting piece of technology has been around for a while and deserves a look The product is called OOMA It allows you to use your current internet connection to make "free" phone calls How can something be free if there's a residual charge monthly or annually? The advantage of this device over inferior products that make similar claims is 1) You do not need to have your computer turned for the device to work 2) There are no monthly or annual fees for the basic service 3) You can port (move/keep) your current phone number to the service The device looks like a very well made phone machine and comes with an additional "scout" unit to allow connectivity in another part of your home or business Ideally it's easier to utilize the base unit and a 6 pack of cordless phones to make the installation quick and easy allowing for extensions wherever you need them Below is a picture of the "older" unit There is a newer version with a limited amout of new features Frankly the OOMA Hub and Scout are a better value than the newer unit for now http://www.ooma.com/products/ooma-telo/compare
