little koshka 0 Report post Posted September 23, 2006 The beginning of the lesson directs us to read passages from John, Romans, Ephesians, Philippians, and Colossians. The premises were: Jesus is the true vine - we are the branches. The work of the Holy Spirit. We as Christians form the body of Christ. Living in the light - speaking in truth and love. Eternal salvation and Heaven the reward. A verse that really stood out to me was: Romans 12:12 Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Answers / Notes (When I say we, I also mean I - and visa versa) 1. I can live a joyful life as a born-again Christian knowing that I am saved. 2. The Bible defines faith as being sure of what we hop for and certain of what we do not see. 3. I can grow in my faith by seeking His word, obeying His word, and by placing myself in an environment where I can accomplish this. 4. In order for my faith to be pleasing to God, I must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him. 5. I must follow Him, if I claim to live in Him, I must walk as He did, I must not not love worldly things - I must do these things to live a Christian life. 6. I must / should pray often. 7. Do not stop praying. 8. Pray with an open and clear heart. 9. Prayers will not always be answered immediately - I need to perservere, also God answers prayers in His own time, and according to His own will. 10. I pray for forgiveness, safety, guidance, sustinance. 11. My prayers can be hindered if I cherish sin. 12. Matthew 26:41 "Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak." 13. 1 John 3:22 and receive from him anything we ask, because we obey his commands and do what pleases him. 14. Matthew 7:7 "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 15. 1 John 5:14-15 This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. 15And if we know that he hears us”whatever we ask”we know that we have what we asked of him.
