little koshka 0 Report post Posted November 16, 2006 Do you read labels when purchasing food items? Are you aware of the nutritional values (or lack thereof) when visiting your local Starbucks or fast food establishment? I know I have mentioned Starbucks before, but after coming home from a recent road trip - my husband and I decided to check out some websites where they list the nutritional values of the various establishment's offerings. Even though we were making healthier choices (salads, etc..) - we were shocked. Packing an ice chest like babunya and deda may be a smart idea after all. Sliced cucumbers and hard boiled eggs, anyone?
sadichka 0 Report post Posted November 17, 2006 Hello, It is amazing to me that most people in the US are concerned with carbs, sugar, salt and fat yet fail to recognize 'portion control'. They also have come to believe that coffee and tea are often better choices than soda but turn a blind eye to the nutrient facts of their favorite beverage. I say...choose water! Moderation is the word that needs to be stressed. The problem is that the word 'moderation' is an individual perception. Have you seen the movie "Super Size Me"? Sada ps...I have always read the nutrition facts on labels. (but...I still like an Iced Caramel Macchiato on occasion! )
